Nannerl's Music Book- compostions by Leopold and Amadeus Mozart (Lever harp)
Nannerl's Music Book- compostions by Leopold and Amadeus Mozart (Lever harp)
In late July 1759, little Maria Anna Mozart celebrated both her 8th name day and her 8th birthday. To mark the occasion, she was presented with a bound notebook of blank manuscript paper, forty eight pages in all. Maria Anna was known as Nannerl to her family, so the gift went on to become known as Nannerl’s Notenbuch (or Music Book in English).
Nannerl’s Music Book became the repository of musical instruction for both her and her precocious younger brother Wolfgang Amadeus and includes compositions by both Leopold and Amadeus. Frustratingly there are no known compositions by Nannerl herself.
Nannerl went on to become every bit as talented as her brother, touring as a young child, and teaching as an adult. However, in the Music Book which famously bears her name, there is remarkably little to be found of the character and creativity of Nannerl Mozart.
Arranged for the first time for lever harp, this collection includes some of the shorter, easier works in the Music Book. Suitable for Grades 2-4, with some lever changes. 23 pages in total
A companion volume to the London Sketchbook K15. (Available here.)
